Dynam Vortex Review

By HeliTown.COM

Introduction

We all (RC heli flyers) tend to think it is only fun to fly a big RC heli such as Trex 600 or a Raptor, but it is in fact equally fun to fly a small RC heli such as a coaxial Dynam Vortex heli. Getting tired of fixing my MX400/Trex450 Hybrid from the last crash, I am glad to welcome this little, cute yellow bird to my fleet. The coaxial Dynam Vortex heli is manufactured by Dynam RC who makes a wide variety of RC aircraft and accessories. The Dynam Vortex heli is a coaxial model among other RC heli models made by Dynam RC such as Hughes 300, Phoenix CP and FP. On this page and the next 2 more pages, I will cover some of key areas of the coaxial Dynam Vortex heli as much as possible so people looking for a coaxial heli in this price range can get information about Dynam Vortex heli. I will continue to add more information to the review as I gain more experience with Dynam Vortex heli. So, bookmark the page and always check back for updates.

What is in the Box?

I was so happy to see the UPS package arrived at my door from BPhobbies earlier than I expected. I didn’t waste any time and started tearing down the package right away. The first thing I saw was a little, cute, yellow coaxial heli. Yeah, it is the coaxial Dynam Vortex heli! It came in a nicely designed box with a nice color cover owner manual, good looking 4-channel FM transmitter, 2-cell 800 mAh Lipo pack, Li-Po DC charger, 2 pairs of rotor blades, and a tool package.

First Impression

The coaxial Dynam Vortex is a nice heli. It has a real scale looking body. When I lined up the coaxial Dynam Vortex heli next to my Blade CP and MX400/Trex450 Hybrid, the Dynam Vortex heli fit in the group really nice. The second thing that caught my eyes at first sight was the transmitter. The chrome plate on the front makes the transmitter look like an expensive computerized transmitter. I had a picture of the Dynam Vortex transmitter standing side by side next to my Futaba 9C below so you can judge it for yourselves.

The 8 page owner manual is well-written. I found the Dynam Vortex owner manual a lot easier to understand than the Esky’s or Walkera’s manuals. The owner manual contains information about general RC heli guides, operating the Dynam Vortex heli for the first time, testing and adjusting, controls for the Dynam Vortex Heli, Vortex heli components, transmitter, battery preparation and installation, balancing and adjusting main blades, beginner flying lessons and Dynam Vortext heli part listing. The included Li-Po charger was also impressive – there are three light indictors for power, charging and full states.

The only a little thing that kind of took away some of my positive first impression at the moment was the front body of the heli got broken on the top. The front body is very thin and fragile – easy to crack. It might have been broken during shipping. I am sure if I called BPhobbies, they would send me a new front canopy right away. But it was a minor crack and it was not a big deal. A few pieces of clear tape took care of it nicely. It only took me a few seconds to recover my excitement. Everything looked great so far.
